14′ x 16′ Tiny Timber Frame Cabin
Black Dog Timberworks was very pleased to design and craft this stunning little tiny timber frame cabin for some great clients on the Blue Hill peninsula town of Brooksville. Dubbed the ‘campisito’ by the career sailor clients this tiny cabin will serve as a getaway retreat for them when family and friends come to visit in their small farmhouse.
Crafted out of Maine native rough-sawn pine timbers this frame has some wonderful features that really make it stand out. After seeing our display pavilion at the Common Ground Country Fair, the clients just had to have some of our unique live edge Black Cherry Braces designed into their frame. Also, is seeing the live edge oak beams that stand out in that display frame, we were asked to craft one of those into the frame as well. The idea was reached where we would use the live edge oak beam as the edge of the loft area.
We cut this frame over the winter and then raised it with the clients’ help upon their return from their tropical winter. Delivered and raised by hand in one day this was truly great event, as not one power tool or crane truck had to be listened to all day. Just the breeze in the trees and the smell of salt air! We hope this little frame serves as a model and inspiration for more tiny timber frame cabin frames to come!
